Get to know our community partner...

...Showering Love provides mobile showers, undergarments and socks, and hygiene travel kits, as well as supportive services, for people who are housing insecure. Their goal is to "encourage a healthy lifestyle, foster community, and inspire the desire for self-sufficiency. [They] are committed to fostering an environment and community that is supportive, encouraging, compassionate, healthy, and loving" (Showering Love). Their mobile showers not only ensure health (as my project will through protection from cold) and hygiene, but dignity and love.

A large part of my project is my hand-knitting hats that can be dispersed to people in need. I am partnered with Showering Love to make sure my project actually reaches the people it is aimed to help: homeless populations in my region. Jeanne Albaugh—president and founder of Showering Loveand I are both beyond enthusiastic to work together! Albaugh was once homeless, herself, and now works to "restore dignity, hope, and health" to others experiencing homelessness. She placed an emphasis on her organization aiming to show individuals that their community truly cares and wants to share their love. This is a goal that I share, as well, with my hand-knitted hats.

To quote Albaugh, We are committed to creating a world that is supportive, compassionate and loving. We envision a world where we all support and encourage each other, where there is no separation, because we all come from love.”

I will distribute the hats—permanent and durable providers of warmth, and made with love for them to know they are cared for by their community—with the help of Showering Love.
